Know What To Expect

So you’ve finally made the decision to get your eyebrows microbladed. It’s been a long time coming and you can’t wait for the big day, here’s a day by day guide of what to expect. Microblading and permanent makeup is a process. The true results will not be seen until after the touch up treatment, but in the mean time your brows will go through a few stages.

Day 1

After your treatment on day 1 your brows will look bold, dense and dark. That may be exactly what you’re looking for, it not, don’t panic. The permanent makeup has been applied to compensate for fading of 20-40%, so if they look darker than you normally wear your brows, stay calm, the color will fade over the next week.

You will likely be red and slightly swollen, accompanied with some slight bleeding. This is all very normal.

Day 2

You will likely still be tender and slightly swollen today but bleeding should have subsided. This is when most people really fall in love with the look of their new brows. The redness should have subsided a lot if not completely. Avoid touching your beautiful new brows, I know it’s hard but they are tons of little wounds we need to keep as clean as possible.

Day 3-5

Now that’s what I call #browgoals! Finally, you’re experiencing the convenience of not having to draw on your brows every day, and it makes getting ready a breeze. “Why didn’t I do this a long time ago” is what you keep asking yourself.

Day 5-7

This is that ugly time you’ve heard about, you’ll begin to experience the scabbing and peeling. Your new brows will itch and you will be tempted to pick at them but DON’T, you will lose the pigment and end up with patchy brows.

Day 7-10

This is the phase where flaking should be coming to an end. You may feel discouraged because your brows will likely look much lighter, missing in spots and maybe even gray. Don’t panic, this it totally normal, your brows are still healing beneath the surface distorting the way we see the pigment from the surface.

Your wounds should be healed by now so you can apply some powder to fill them in if you would like.

Day 12-21

You should be able to see your strokes and definition of your brows returning at this point. The will be evening out and you will begin to feel some relief.

Day 30

Your brows are officially healed! At this point you will know if there is anything you would like to add or change at the touch up appointment. You may have some areas where pigment was lost but don’t worry that can be fixed at your upcoming appointment as well.

We never recommend doing follow ups before the healing process has completed. The healing process can have ups and downs and I hope this helps you understand exactly what to expect.

Eyebrow microblading is the art of creating fuller thicker eyebrows through the use if a manual tattooing technique. The process involves the application of detailed, fine lines on the eyebrow area that effectively mimic the natural color and fine hairs that form the eyebrow. First, a series ultra fine needles is used to make fine, microstroking incisions on the skin in a shape and form that has been predetermined by the microblading specialist and the client. Next, pigment is placed on the area that effectively soaks into the tiny incisions.

Microblading Is Not A Tattoo…..

Anytime a pigment or ink is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin it is a tattoo process. With that being said there are some differences between permanent makeup and traditional tattoos.

Traditional tattoos are usually created with a machine tool and implanted with an ink designed to remain in the skin permanently. These inks are deposited in the lower layers of the dermis which may also reach the hypodermis. Because traditional tattoos are implanted into the deeper layers of skin people often say that they are considered more painful than permanent cosmetics.

Professional permanent cosmetic pigments are formulated to react to sun exposure. To achieve different browns for example we need to mix different ratios of reds, greens and yellows. Each color and shade is carefully selected based on your skin color, shade and undertone. This prevents the color from fading to a blue or green over time.

A Blade Must Be Used…

It is called microblading so it stands to reason that a blade is used. But nope, we don’t use a blade to implant pigment. The microblade hand tool is a series of several tiny needles configured like a brush to allow precise stroke placement. Each hand tool is designed for single use and is disposed of in a sharps container.

If the tattoo’s so great, why not get it done permanently? Well permanent eyebrow tattoo may become discolored overtime giving your eyebrows a color that may fall into a blueish to greenish shade. Also, with semi-permanent, you’re not out of luck if your brow shape is totally “out” because reshaping is always possible.

Any Salon Can Offer Microblading Treatments

Only salons and salon professionals with specific licenses and certifications can perform microblading treatments. Each county and state has their own specific guidelines.

Despite how popular microblading is becoming don’t just go to any place to get it done.  It’s imperative for your safety that the individual performing your treatment has had proper training in bloodborne pathogens and can maintain a safe environment for you and your health. Here at Cosmetic Ink Studio we are certified, licensed and insured for your safety and only use only the highest quality professional pigments and tools.

Microblading Is A New Thing

This is partially true.

Microblading originated in Asia about 25 years ago. There are incredible microblading artists all over the world today. Since it’s introduction in western culture microblading has become one of the most sought after beauty treatments.

It’s Too Painful

Everyone has different pain tolerances, but client comfort is a high priority. We minimize discomfort by numbing everyone with high quality numbing agents with 5% lidocaine and continue to use them through out the treatment. I have never met anyone who couldn’t handle it and often hear from my clients how easy the treatment was.

Eyebrow microblading is the art of creating fuller thicker eyebrows through the use if a manual tattooing technique. First, a fine scalpel or blade is used to make fine, microstroking incisions on the skin in a shape and form that has been predetermined by the microblading specialist and the client. Next, ink or dye is placed on the area that effectively soaks into the tiny incisions, creating a tattoo.

Benefits from Permanent Cosmetics

The brow microstroking tattoos are semi-permanent which means that while they won’t wash away easily, they will only last around 6 months before a reapplication becomes necessary. It is recommended not to get the eyebrow area wet for a couple of days after the procedure to ensure that the ink has a chance to settle and that it remains for longer.

  1. Poor vision or just cant see well to apply your makeup anymore
  2. Allergies to topical makeup or skin sensitivities
  3. An unsteady hand or poor motor skills due to Parkinsons disease, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, or stroke survivors.
  4. People with busy lifestyles and hectic work schedules who want to look their best all day long with out having to stop, check and re-apply their makeup due to smudging or smearing. Those of you whom after a busy day want to look great for your evening without having to do a thing
  5. People who enjoy activities like working out at the gym, yoga, swimming, boating, hiking, biking, tennis, camping, etc., that are concerned with their eyebrows or makeup coming off. Some people even avoid activities such as these because of that concern. Through permanent makeup, I can give you the personal freedom you need to go do the activities you enjoy.

The procedure should always be performed by a professional in hygienic environment using sterile instruments. Infection can result from not using clean and hygienic equipment. Bleeding can occur and it is best to take steps to minimize this by refraining from consuming alcohol or using and blood thinning medication at least 72 hours before the procedure.
